A more accurate diagram would have the Federal Government point a gun at us, handing us over to the State and Insurance companies, who are holding a gun at us.
We ought to have the freedon to walk away from all of them (with out fines and jail time).
I agree, though some states are trying to pass legislation that makes it illegal for the federal government to force healthcare on us, so not all states are holding guns to others heads.
If I may, I'm afraid that too many people are over-reacting to the health care bill.
As suggested by my (Republican) teacher, in about ten years, the Republicans will be claiming credit for the health care bill just like they did with Medicare. If you're willing to accept that Universal health care doesn't mean Socialism, it's not quite as scary.
Chris, I don't think you realize how much of our freedom (or how many liberties) that we lost because of this health care bill. Every time you give government the ability to control something (a good) they have the authority to take that same item away and can keep you indebted to them for the rest of your life. Do you really want to be indebted to the government for anything for the rest of your life?
You make a fair point, but what exactly are those freedoms that we lost? Do you really suspect that the government will ever force anybody with private insurance to get public insurance?
Christopher- I think you're right. Medicare has been stolen by the Republicans, and this bill will probably be exactly the same, unfortunately. (If it succeeds, that is. If it doesn't, it'll be all the Democrats' fault, for their silly socialistic policies.
However, I also think Teresa makes a good point- it is a slippery slope, and we need to watch it. ;)
I am an 18 year old libertarian, Texan, and constitutionalist. I spend most of my time writing novels and discussing issues with people online. Until such time as that changes and I get a life, you're probably going to be subjected to my thoughts.

I completely agree with that picture.
Gee... it looks like many people are holding the gun to force the health care bill down our throats.

I think we're just afraid of change, is all.
