This is scary for a multitude of reasons. Number one- Barack Obama is, just to clue you in, the President of the United States. He is not the Messiah, the Savior, or Superman. He's basically a figurehead for the nation who (Constitutionally) gets to veto bills he doesn't like and look pretty for the cameras.
This cult of personality that has grown up around the man is frankly frightening. Not to mention its idiocy, it brings undue attention to someone who really, in the grand scheme of things, isn't (or shouldn't be) all that important.

Sorry, Liberty. Unfortunately for all other Bloggers who have come across me, I still have some politics left in me. Too bad too bad. I'm also sorry to say that I considered this to be an unfair and disrespectful comparison.
One main difference: I know for a fact that Obama did not teach them to sing those songs. And they were not brainwashing chants. They were not hyms of worship. I also know that Obama is not a god and I usually don't appreciate it when other people say that. He has installed a tremendous amount of hope in this country, but we know he is no dictator.
The President is much more than a figure head. Barrack Obama influences America far more than, say, the Queen of England to England. He doesn't have as much political power as many think, but he's still the President.
You must admit: catchy songs, brainwashing or not.
Perhaps it is an unfair comparison. But at the same time, this is rather scary because what does it teach kids? We are supposed to put our faith in one mortal man? Such an excellent life lesson, that!
It is true that Obama does exert much more influence over politics than the Queen. But he shouldn't, Constitutionally.
I didn't say how any of those songs made it seem like he's more important thatn another president. I think "you're number one!" was referring to him being president and the fct that he is the 'number one' black president. He shouldn't have more power, and he doesn't. Everyone says he wants to make us into a communist regime. How exactly would he do that? With his evil health reform that wants to give everyone insurance? What about his horrible policies about protecting our enviroment? That Nazi!

I'm pretty sure the Cult of the Presidency isn't an new Obama creation nor an Obama requirement. It's been around a long time. And it often extends into our elementary school education with the respective mythologies around Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, et al.

Oh I totally agree that the President has been gaining way too much power over the past several decades, and it's pretty sad. (Did you know that the Cabinet is not in the Constitution? It's not.)
